She had 4 Number 1 singles between the 3 major charting services at the time, and should have had many more. Alas, she was pretty much Blacklisted by Country Radio before the end of 1991. That is not speculation that is a Gospel fact, and I never understood why. It still makes me bitterly angry how she was treated. My Father passed away of Liver Cancer in July of 1997. He worked hard all his life and was only retired for a couple of years prior to his death.

My dad died of alcoholism when I was 12. I miss him, the him I had before the alcohol. I mourned him more than once and never understood it

When we left my granddaddy’s grave after the funeral, we had a 3 hour drive home. The song “daddy’s hands” played on the radio and my mom had to pull over. A swarm of whitish to light blue butterflies swarmed our car flying in circles around it. I’m talking tons! When we finally made it home and we got out of the car, there was still quite a few flying around us. I still can’t believe this happened, and it was around 20 years ago.
